Balloon investigations of primary cosmic rays and their investigations with matter at high energies

  • 1. AN SSSR, Moscow (USSR). Fizicheskij Inst.

Description

Investigations of primary cosmic rays were conducted using balloon X-ray emulsion chambers. General information concerning number and time of flights, their height, into calculated number of proton interactions, and into number of recorded interactions of protons as well is presented. Distributions of secondary particles over pseudorapidities, integral distributions of γ quanta over transverse momenta are given. Experimental data on p+c, p+Al, p+Fe, α+Fe, c+Fe, N+Fe, O+F, α+Ag, α+Br interactions with E0 ≥ 20 TeV energy of incident particles on the number of secondary charged particles and on the determined γ quanta, total energy of secondary charged particles and γ quanta are presented. Conclusion is made, that technique of stratospheric X-ray emulsion chambers may be used to study phase transitions of nuclear matter with formation of quark-gluon plasma
