Assessment of uptake and effectiveness of deactivation of abrasions and wounds after their contamination with 238Pu

Creators

Description

Investigations carried out at rats have shown that at 238Pu uptake on abrasions or wounds due to its physical peculiarities it is resorbed at large quantities (2.9-26.4 % during 3 days) that excesses considerably 238Pu resorbtion coeffeicients. It determines the higher degree of the danger of radioacive contamination in cases of their contamination with 238Pu. So, medical measures preventing the nuclide uptake should be taken at the earliest possible dates after the accident (in the first 5-10 minutes) The treatment of wounds with oxidants should be considered as an immediate necessary procedure before the subsequent dissection of the contaminated wound
