Extraction of dilute uranyl salt solution by liquid ion exchanger and TTA
Description
A perusal of the literature indicates that no work has been done on the extraction of uranium from extreme dilute solution by high molecular weight amine and chelating agent solved in the organic solvent. This work is concerning to the extraction of uranium from the sea water. Liquid ion exchanger (LA-2) and thenoyltrifluoroacetone (TTA) were used with benzene. The distribution of uranium between aqueous phase and liquid ion exchanger changed with the salt concentration in aqueous solution. The degree of extraction of uranium from the uranium enriched artificial sea water to TTA-benzene phase depended on pH of the aqueous solution and the optimum of pH for the uranium extraction was about six. The loss of TTA from the organic solvent to artificial sea water is described for various pH. (author)
