Study on ceramics strength under heat and load. Communication 2. Scandium oxide

Description

Investigation results of strength, deformativity, elasticity and thermal shock resistance of scandium oxide base ceramics are presented. It is shown that at normal temperatures the material is linear-elastic. Data on the ceramics resistance to monotonous thermal loadings are given. The changes of strength characteristics of the materials subjected to thermal shock are investigated. Peculiarities of the formation and distribution of cracks in the samples during thermal shock tests are analyzed. Comparison of the ceramics on the base of yttrium and scandium oxides is carried out
