Description
The aim of our work was study of antimicrobial activity the derivatives of ethyl 4-(alkylthio)-5-methyl thieno[2,3- d]pyrimidine-6-carboxylates, obtained from ethyl-5-methyl-4-thioxo-3,4-dihydro thieno[2,3- d ]pyrimidine-6-carboxylate. The structure of all of compounds were assigned by 1H NMR-spectra and elemental analysis data. Antimicrobial activity of compounds has been investigated by agar well diffusion method. The antimicrobial effect was measured by the diameter of growth inhibition zone for each microorganism. It was found that ethyl 4-(alkylthio)-5-methyl thieno[2,3- d]pyrimidine-6-carboxylates are active against Bacillus subtilis bacterial strain and Candida albicans fungi. It was determined that attachment of benzyl substituent to sulphur atom makes 4-(alkylthio)-5-methyl thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidine-6-carboxylates active against Proteus vulgaris; the similar compound with thioacetic acid moiety in position 4 is significantly inhibits Staphylococcus aureus growth.
