Chemical and environmental effects on γ-ray sum peak intensity of 111In due to perturbed angular correlation of cascade γ-emission

Description
The sum peak at 416.6 keV for 111In which emits γ-rays of 171.3 and 245.3 keV in cascade was measured at various chemical and physicochemical environments. The measured intensity ratio of the sum peak to its single peak at 171.3 keV or 245.3 keV changed depending on the perturbed angular correlation (PAC) function of 111In. The formula which describes the relation between the intensity ratio and the PAC was derived. A 'sum peak method' based on the phenomena is proposed to be an alternative technique for time integral perturbed angular correlation (TIPAC). (author)
