Physical Protection Measures and System Physical Protection System Indicators
Description
The Nuclear Power Plants represent a strategic objective for any State or Nation: • Because the service that they fulfil: produce electric energy. • Due to the type of fuel that it uses: The Nuclear Energy. Its safety represents one of the main concerns for the Authority in charge. Physical Protection, organization responsible of providing safety, is sustained by three basics pillars: The Organization, the Barrier System and Technological means and the Procedures that are applied to fulfill the mission. It is mandatory to count with a process that allows measuring the efficiency of the Physical Protection System in an integral manner. The Nuclear Site Atucha counts with indicators that allow determining such efficiency. These indicators are completed daily by the person responsible of the Physical Protection Department shift. The authorities responsible of the conduction of the Nuclear Power Plants, through a "simple view", through a color code (red, yellow and green) determinate the Physical Protection System Efficiency Level and with this, the safety level in which the electric energy production with nuclear fuel is being performed. The mention indicators are compound, basically, by the information registered in the forms with a specific format. This information provides the updates of the Means, Systems, Equipment, Personnel and Activities. (author)
