Large charge exchange corrections to direct photonuclear processes
Description
The two-step charge exchange contribution from the process 16O(γ,p)15N(p,n)15O is calculated for the photonuclear reaction 16O(γ,n)15O. The total cross section, computed as a function of energy, is compared to the conventional, one-step direct cross section for both E1 and E2 transitions. For each transition the two-step correction to the cross section is found to be sizable, approximately 50% of the one-step cross section. (Auth.)
