Electrochemical transfer of ions across the water/nitrobenzene interface
Description
The electrochemical approach to extraction of simple salts into high-permittivity organic phase is considered. The approach is based on the Verwey-Niessen concept of the electrical double layer at an IIIES (Interface of Two Immiscible Electrolyte Solutions). The transfer potentials for Cs+ and TMA+ (tetramethylamonium) a cross the water-nitrobenzene interface are determined by means of cyclic voltametry at 298 K. The values of TMA+ and Cs+ transfer potentials are 35 and 160 mV, respectively. 9 refs.; 4 figs
