Technology for earthquake simulation

Description

The earthquake simulator at the Juelich nuclear research centre is described. The installation is termed 'SAMSON' (Simulation Installation for Modelling Seismic Oscillations of Nuclear Components) and consists of a seismic table of dimensions 5 meters X 5 meters X 1.2 meters, which can be impulse driven under computer control, supported on 1400 tonne foundations.
