On currents associated with topological charges

Description
We consider n-component classical unit vector-fields on a D dimensional space-time. For D = n and D = 2(n-1) topological charges exist. Our investigation is for D = 2(n-1) in particular D = 4 and n = 3. The results are: a conserved current exists, but is not local; the corresponding charge is given by Hopf's invariant of the field; the charges are additive. (orig.)

In einer D-dimensionalen Raum-Zeit werden klassiche n-komponentige Einheitsvektorfelder betrachtet. Fuer D = n und D = 2(n-1) existieren topologische Ladungen. Die vorliegenden Untersuchungen beziehen sich auf D = 2(n-1), besonders auf D = 4 und n = 3. Man erhaelt folgende Ergebnisse: es existiert ein erhaltener Strom, dieser ist jedoch nicht-lokal; die zugehoerige Ladung ist durch die Hopf'sche Invariante des Feldes gegeben; die Ladungen sind additiv.
