A review of disease-based approaches to estimation of need for computed tomographic (ct) services
Description
As the applications of computed tomography (CT) increase, approaches to prediction of need for this technology have multiplied. In recent months, much of this attention has focused on disease-based methodologies. The proliferation of data concerning disease-based approaches has resulted in confusion regarding this topic. This document is intended to clarify that situation. Included in the report is a survey of the development of CT need methodologies, with particular emphasis on disease-based approaches. Also included is a comparative evaluation of the major approaches currently available
