The assessment of the radiation influence upon the uran mining personnel and data on miners irradiation consequence

Description
The results of investigation into the radiation exposure of mine workers, involved with underground uran mining and the retrospective study of miners lung cancer frequency covering a period of more than 40 years (1950∼1992) are represented. It is shown that integrated breathing system exposure value for all radiation factors was equal to 0.2-0.4 of allowable exposure according to home regulations. The miners mortality data shows that lung cancer death-rate was increasing linearly as the accumulated exposure for radon degradation products was growing. The mortality risk from occupational lung cancer was 1.9 x 10-4 (pers·rem)-1 for the whole group of miners. The lung cancer make up 70% proportion from all cancer disease taken as a cause of death. In 1965 when the air pollution by radon degradation products began to decrease, the mine-workers lung cancer frequency was significantly smaller than within the group taken as a controls
