Electrochemical performance of dendrite LaFeO3 nanostructures for high selective determination of neurotransmitter compound

Description

LaFeO3 dendritic nanostructure was synthesized by a well controlled CTAB assisted facile hydrothermal process. The crystal structure, morphology and chemical composition of the material was investigated by X-ray diffraction, high resolution transmission electron microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Structural characterizations imply the preferential growth along (121) direction by oriented attachment of LaFeO3 nanoparticles in the diffusion limit leading to the formation of LaFeO3 dendrites. The microscopic studies confirm the formation of dendrites with 3-4 μm length, branch diameter 80 nm and length 1-1.5 μm. Further, the electrochemical measurements performed on LaFeO3 dendritic nanostructures deposited on the surface of glassy carbon electrode exhibits strong promoting effect. The oxidation current is proportional to concentration in the linear range 8.2 x 10-8 to 1.6 x 10-7 M with a detection limit of 62 nM with S/N = 3. Meanwhile, the sensor effectively avoids the interference of ascorbic acid and uric acid and it is successfully applied to determine the dopamine formulations with high selectivity and sensitivity.
