Considerations on the bulk modulus of pure metals
Description
The validity of Grueneisen's first rule, which predicts a simple connection between bulk modulus, cohesive energy, and atomic volume, is reexamined for the metals in the 4th, 5th, and 6th rows of the periodic system. Considering the empirical results, a modified form of this equation is derived. The introduced parameters are discussed briefly with respect to the theory of metallic binding. (author)
