Ondulator

Description

The invention belongs to accelerator technology and is related to the use of relativistic electron beams from synchrotrons and storage rings for the generation of radiation of any preset form in a magnetic ondulator. The ondulator described comprises magnetic sections positioned in succession and coaxially with the charged particle beam. To reduce the ondulator dimensions, additional magnetic sections are introduced, their lengths being multiples of the main section length. The additional magnetic sections are arranged on the main sections and form a multilayer structure. The invension is especially important when installing the ondulator in a straight-line gap of the electron storage rings, as it enables one to generate radiation of adjustable spectrum form in the vacuum-UV region
