Quantitative analysis of radiation absorbed doses in radioimmunotargetting using 199Au

Full text: After successfully targeting, model lesions, created implanting human tumour xenografts or injecting cancer cell lines in swiss albino/nude mice, we have undertaken studies to quantify the radiation absorbed doses in various organs of normal as well as tumour bearing mice. 199Au which is both a beta as well as a gamma emitter (suitable for simultaneous imaging) was used for labelling the specific antibody using modified Anderson technique. Organ counts have been obtained by serial gamma camera imaging and drawing ROIs and also by sacrificing animal and counting organs in a gamma counter. TLD data is obtained by implanting small TLD rods/chips in the cancer tissue before xenografting it in the animal. TLDs are also pasted on the skin to measure various organ doses. Analysis of ROI data has shown linearity in response, while TLD data has shown wide variations in measured doses
