This small booklet briefly discusses the nature of radiation, why radiation is a health risk, the main sources of radiation exposure, the ICRP and NRPB's involvement in setting radiation safety standards, the risks from radiation, the current dose limits and whether they should be changed, whether radiation is responsible for the leukaemia clusters around nuclear power stations and finally independent monitoring of radiation in the environment.
