Separation effects in plasma

Description

The review of investigations related to separation of isotopes in plasma is presented. Two methods - plasma rotation and ion cyclotron resonance - are distinguished by the most promising results. Several ways for creating rotating uranium plasma are shown. The conclusion is drawn that the data available are not sufficient for designing a separation element which can operate economically. Unsolved are technical problems related to using of uranium compounds in a plasma phase. Experimental investigations of the method of ion cyclotron resonance show the possibility of reaching high separation coefficient but along with this put forth the problem of reaching high values of the mass flow
