Description

The high-frequency (HF) current, induced by a HF signal, through a double-barrier tunneling device is shown to have wavelike characteristics, with a wavelength much smaller than that of the signal. The wave behavior of the HF current originates from quantum interference of the electron wave function due to spatial nonuniformity in a mesoscopic system. This phenomenon should affect HF measurements in tunneling devices
