Description
The use of each individual type of power station presents special technical and economical problems. It is only by well organised cooperation among the most different power station types that the exacting tasks of modern electricity supply can be fulfilled in a technically and economically satisfactory way. Owing to their great diversity, pumped storage schemes have proved particularly interesting components of generating systems. They are apt to contribute a great deal to the technical and economic improvement of such systems in many respects. The author compares the costs of hydro, nuclear, coal and gas turbine power plants.
