Reactor containers
Description
Purpose: To improve the earthquake proofness and safety of containment shells for BWR type reactors, as well as improve the workability. Constitution: A support bed for a reactor container is arranged in a cylindrical manner at the middle of a suppression chamber and integrated with a dry well. The suppression chamber thus has a doughnut-shaped cross section. Since the inside of the support bed is formed as the extension of the dry well to exclude the pool water outside, the portion can be used as the space for various works and the earthquake proofness is improved by the lowering of the gravitational center of the reactor. Further, the volume of the dry well is increased to render the workability satisfactory. (Horiuchi, T.)
