Relevant data on the spent sealed radioactive sources inventory in Romania
Description
The greatest part of the spent sealed radioactive sources (SSRS) collected until 1998 from all Romanian territory was already dispose off to the National Repository for Radioactive Waste from Baita Bihor. The new waste acceptance criteria set up by regulatory authority leaded to the increasing of the number of the SSRS stored. The paper contains relevant data on the long lived, radium sources, neutron sources and orphan sources inventory reported by the radioactive waste storage facility at the end of year 2004. The paper contains also, the regulatory frame work on the management of SSRS and the measures taken by regulatory authority in order to discourage the holding of the sealed radioactive sources (SRS) without any utilization.
