International activities in nuclear documentation
Description
The Japanese activities in nuclear documentation has been developed in line with the national policy. Concerning the International Nuclear Information System (INIS), the INIS National Center for Japan has submitted steadily secondary information in English on nuclear literature to the IAEA since the beginning of the operation in 1970. The Japanese input redords occupy about 6% of the whole INIS database. The Center has paid effort to maintain high quality and to shorten time lag of the input. Information networks have been prepared for use of the INIS database in Japan. The International Energy Agency (IEA) established a new project of the Energy Technology Data Exchange (IEA/ETDE) in collaboration with its Member States in January 1987. The Japanese contracting parties contributed to this multinational cooperation during the initial phase of operation with implementation of regular input. Publication of a new periodical was started in January 1987. It is named 'Nuclear Science Information of Japan-Oral Presentation' and contains bibliographic information on presentation at main conferences, symposia and other formal meetings. Copies are distributed to oversea's countries as a kind of 'research in progress' information for inclusion of the latest research topics. (author)
