Description

The paper describes a compact low-voltage injector for linear accelerators of electrons of 10 cm range. The injector consists of an electron gun, bunching cavity resonator, accelerating resonator and a focusing system. Its primary peculiarity resides in the utilization of a low-voltage (U = 23-25 kV) gun as an electron source which allows to reduce significantly the length of flight intervals. The tests show that the injector ensures the following outlet parameters of the electron beam: 450-600 keV energy, 0.8-1.4 A pulse current at 3.8-4.0 pulse duration and 300 Hz pulse frequency. Phase length of the clusters equals 18%, normalized emittance - 40 π x mm x rad. 2 refs
