A new limit for the branching ratio for the decay π0 → νν' from beam-dump experiments

Description

If the decay π0 → νν' exists, it would be a source of prompt neutrinos that would emerge from a beam dump. The data from several beam-dump experiments are examined for evidence of this decay and new upper limits, Γ(π0 → νe anti νe/Γ(π0 → all) < 3.1x10-6, Γ(π0 → νμ anti νμ)/Γ(π0 → all) < 3.1x10-6 and Γ(π0 → ντ anti ντ)/Γ(π0 → all) < 2.1x10-6 (all 90% CL) are derived.
