This publication presents the bio-methane industry situation of continental France during the Second quarter 2021: bio-methane production facilities (number, production capacity per type of facility), annual and quarterly evolution of production capacities, pending projects with their expected capacities, evolution of quarterly production, regional distribution and evolution of biomethane facilities with their maximum production capacities and the share injected into the gas distribution system, regional distribution of pending projects with their expected maximum production capacities

Abstract (French)

Au 30 juin 2021, 282 installations ont injecte du biomethane, apres production et epuration de biogaz, dans les reseaux de gaz naturel. Leur capacite s'eleve a 5,1 TWh/an, en progression de 26 % par rapport a fin 2020. Une capacite supplementaire de 1057 GWh/an a ete installee au cours du premier semestre 2021, en forte hausse par rapport au meme semestre de l'annee 2020 (497 GWh/an). Le parc est constitue a 52 % de petites installations d'une puissance inferieure a 15 GWh/an, qui ne representent que 29 % de la capacite totale installee. Les unites de methanisation cumulent environ 89 % de la capacite totale du parc. a fin juin 2021, la capacite des 1 026 projets en file d'attente atteint 21,5 TWh/an, en diminution de 5 % par rapport a fin 2020. La production de biomethane injecte dans les reseaux continue sa progression. Elle s'etablit a 1826 GWh au premier semestre 2021, soit une hausse de 93 % par rapport au premier semestre 2020. Quatre regions, Grand Est, Hauts-de-France, Nouvelle-Aquitaine et Bretagne, concentrent 61 % des capacites installees a la fin du premier semestre 2021 et 58 % des injections au cours de ce semestre
