Comparative Studies on the Recovery of Uranium from Loaded TBP-Kerosene Solution

Description
The extraction kinetics of U(VI) from 3 M nitric acid sing 20% TBP in Kerosene using stirred lewis cell technique was carried out in previous publication. the stripping of the extracted uranium from the loaded organic solution using the same lewis cell was studied by two methods. the first method was carried out using dilute nitric acid. the effect of different parameters on the kinetics of the stripping method such as the concentration of U(VI),TBP,HNO3, as well as temperature were separately investigated. these studies showed that the s tipping rate is nearly zero-order dependent on nitric acid concentration, first-order dependent on the U(VI) concentration in the organic phase and inversely first-order dependent on the TBP concentration while the variation of temperature slightly affected the stripping rate. A mechanism to account for the results of U(VI) stripping from TBP - kerosene solution was proposed. the second method was performed by precipitation with solutions of KOH, NH4OH and NaOH under different stirring rates. IR investigations of the precipitates were performed to assure the purity of the U(VI) precipitates and to check the optimum conditions
