Heterogeneous ionization chambers for dosimetry of mixed fields of fast neutrons and gamma radiation

Description
Method of fast neutrons and γ-radiation absorbed dose measurements in mixed gamma-neutron fields using air heterogeneous ionization chambers is described. Results obtained by means of heterogeneous and homogeneous ionization chambers during measurements in water, irradiated with a flux of fast neutrons from the U-120 cyclotron (reaction 9Be(d,n)10B), are compared. It is shown that heterogeneous air ionization chambers differ from homogeneous ones in design simplicity with acceptable for practical purposes measurement error (∼9%)
