Efforts to use coal ash in Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station tsunami countermeasure construction

Description

At the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, coal ash is being utilized in tsunami countermeasure construction. The projects where coal ash has been used or is to be used are as follows: (1) Japan Trench tsunami countermeasure tide embankment currently under construction, (2) Kuril Trench tsunami countermeasure tide embankment that was established as a countermeasure against the Kuril Trench/Japan Trench tsunamis, which were announced to be highly imminent as a new finding, and (3) outer-rise tsunami countermeasure tide embankment, which was installed as an emergency measure after the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station on March 11, 2011. The Japan Trench tsunami countermeasure tide embankment construction work has begun in June 2021. From the standpoint of process and cost, it uses ashcrete, which effectively utilized coal ash (raw powder) with a usage experience at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station. This paper reports on the characteristics and usage of materials such as ashcrete made from coal ash. (A.O.)

東京電カホールディングス(株)福島第一原子力発電所の津波対策は,2011年3月11日の東北地方太平洋沖地震に起因して発生した福島第一原子力発電所の事故の緊急対策として設置されたアウターライズ津波対策防潮堤と,切迫性が高いとされる新知見として公表された千島海溝/日本海溝津波対策として設置された千島海溝津波対策防潮堤,そして現在工事が進んでいる日本海溝津波対策防潮堤の3つで津波リスクヘの対応を図っている。日本海溝津波対策防潮堤設置工事は2021年6月より着工しており,工程やコスト面といった観点から,福島第一原子力発電所で利用実績のある石炭灰(原粉)を有効活用したアッシュクリートを使用している。本稿では,石炭灰を使用したアッシュクリートなどの材料についてその取組みを報告する。(著者)
