Spectroscopy of high spin states in 52Mn

  • 1. Institutul de Fizica Atomica, Bucharest (Romania)

Description

The electromagnetic decay properties of four high spin states in 52Mn have been studied via the 39K(16O, 2pn)52Mn reaction, at incident energies of 37-52 MeV. Spins and parities of these states, and branching and mixing ratios of their decay γ-rays have been determined from excitation function, angular distribution and p-γ and γ-γ coincidence measurements. The recoil-distance technique and the Doppler-shift attenuation method have been used to determine the mean life of one of the levels and upper limits for the mean lives of the other levels, respectively. The ordering of these high spin yrast states is well accounted for by (fsub(7/2))sup(+-4) shell-model calculations. (Auth.)
