Calculation of the probability of gamma photon absorption in the heavy moderator of a finite height cylindrical reactor

Description
This paper describes the method for calculating the probability of gamma-photon absorption in the heavy water moderator of a finite height cylindrical reactor. It is applied to the reactor core with 2% enriched uranium of the reactor lattice pitch a=9.9 cm, critical height of the core Hc=120 cm. The results were obtained under assumption that gamma photons which can induce the (n,γ) reaction have energy E0 = 3 MeV
