  • 1. Paris-11 Univ., 91 - Orsay (France)

Description

This work deals with the radiobiology and the radioprotection. After having recalled some generalities about the ionizing radiations (electromagnetic and corpuscular radiations) and the radioactivity, the author gives the different characteristics of an irradiation (natural or due to human activities). Then are explained what can be the biological effects of radiations on men (molecular and tissual injuries particularly). The medical uses of the ionizing radiations are also exposed particularly the radiotherapy, as well as the pathological effects of radiations on men (precocious effects, global irradiations of the organism, teratogen, genetic and carcinogenic effects). The radioprotection regulations and standards are at last given. (O.M.). 6 refs., 14 figs., 10 tabs
