Description

Observations are presented of the surface brightness and rotation of the center of M32. The luminosity density is accurately described as a power law of slope -2.2 from 1-30 parsec. The projected rotation field has constant angular velocity on isophotes, and increases at small radii to an unresolved cusp at the centre with amplitude of at least 60 km/s. The internal rotation field is modelled, and the internal mean rotation must reach an amplitude of at least 90 km/s at a radius of 2 parsecs. (author)
