Safety Assessment at Ignalina NPP

Description
One of VATESI principal tasks is reviewing and assessing documents justifying nuclear safety at Ignalina NPP. This is done with a view to ascertaining that submitted documents prove that nuclear installations will meet safety requirements throughout their service life. Safety Assessment Division has to organize revision of documents. Most important items in 2004 were: analysis and upgrading of reactors' physical properties; transient and accident analysis; probabilistic safety assessment; safety case for single operating power unit 2 of Ignalina NPP; the project on utilization of Ignalina NPP unit 1 fuel in unit 2
