Description

Theoretical and experimental investigations of the possible carrying of electromagnetic waves through an overdense plasma layer inside a cylindrical waveguide with the aid of the thin beam of fast electrons are carried out. Trans illumination of the plasma barrier due to a three-staged mechanism, namely excitation of a space charge wave by an electromagnetic one in the electron beam amplification of the space charge wave in the overdense plasma and its transformation to an electromagnetic wave on the edge of the plasma barrier, is considered. The barrier transparency factor is evaluated in the linear approximation and an opportunity of the experimental observation of the trans illumination effect is shown. The experimental setup and procedure are described. The existence of the theoretically predicted effect is established
