High-beta-confinement in TENQ, an axisymmetric toroidal experiment with non-circular cross-section

  • 1. Kernforschungsanlage Juelich G.m.b.H. (F.R. Germany). Inst. fuer Plasmaphysik

Description

A report is given on a high-β-plasma confinement experiment with elongated cross-section in an axisymmetric toroidal geometry. Objectives of the experiment, principles of operation, theoretical aspects, a description of the apparatus and first experimental results are presented. A stable confined state of the plasma at a toroidal current of 200 kA and a β of 0.3 has been observed. (author)
