Scintigraphic detection of ischemic and other myocardial lesions using ''hot spot'' radiopharmaceuticals

  • 1. Karlova Univ., Hradec Kralove (Czechoslovakia). Lekarska Fakulta

Description

A brief survey is presented on current possibilities of scintigraphic diagnosis of various diseases of the myocardium based on the personal experience of the authors and on data from the literature. Hot-spot radiopharmaceuticals are compounds which accumulate in the lesion while not accumulating in the healthy myocardium. The study is divided into two parts. In the first part are discussed routine radiopharmaceuticals proven in practice, in the second part compounds which are less frequently used. The first group includes sup(99m)Tc -pyrophosphate and sup(99m)Tc-glucoheptanoate. Included in the second group are mercury compounds, sup(99m)Tc-tetracycline, sup(99m)Tc-heparin, radionuclide labelled antibodies, glucose analogues, sup(99m)Tc-dimercaptosuccinic acid, 11C-pyruvic acid, 67Ga-citrate, 111In-thrombocytes and other radiopharmaceuticals.
