Description

The compaction of soil plays an important role in the construction of earth and rockfill dams and embankment as it imparts increased stability to the structure. Gamma ray transmission method has been used to study the compaction of soils. The results thus obtained, are compared with conventional method, and suitability of the method has been suggested to check the compaction attained in the fills of earth dams and embankments under field conditions.
