Description

In pile Safety Research for LWR at IPSN is accomplished through the two main programmes PHEBUS Fission Products and CABRI PWR. The aim of PHEBUS FP is to investigate in an integral test the main phenomena governing the degradation of fuel at very high temperature as well as the release, transport and deposition of fission products under LWR severe accident conditions. In parallel, the IPSN is conducting experiments in the in pile CABRI facility to study the behaviour of highly irradiated LWR fuel rods submitted to reactivity initiated accident (RIA) conditions
