Description

Modern approaches to description of Gibbs energy of multicomponent phases in metallic alloys are reviewed. The application of the method of calculation of phase diagrams (CALPHAD) for description of thermodynamic properties of multicomponent phases is demonstrated. A consideration is given to problems of calculating phase equilibria in multiphase multicomponent systems as well as to methods of their solving. Calculation technique is developed to determine phase equilibria in such systems. This technique forms the basis of the program for calculation of phase equilibria in iron base alloys. The program is used when analyzing the solubility of carbides, nitrides and carbonitrides in steels
