Comparative evaluation of radiation effects of β-radiation of thallium-204 and promethium-147 on the skin of preadolescent swine

Description

Radiation effects of β-particles from 204Tl and 147Pm on skin of swine are comparatively studied; surface doses from Tl204 are 600, 1000 and 3000 rads, and from Pm147, 1000, 5000 and 10000 rads. Within these dose ranges, the energy of β-particles does not influence the character of dose-dependences of the parameters of the basal cells of epiderma. However, β-particles from Tl204, that injure derma, cause marked changes in the epiderma indicating a decrease in the total cell content of the latter
