Investigation of the behaviour of saccharin as a sulphur carrier in producing sulphur-depolarized nickel

Description
For the production of nickel containing minimum quantities of sulphur, nickel has been deposited by electrolysis in the presence of saccharin as a sulphur carrier. The behaviour of this substance in electrolysis has been investigated with the aid of labelled saccharin. The decomposition products were separated and identified by means of extraction and paper chromatography, and determined by activity measurements. The results give information on the decomposition of saccharin in electrolysis, and on the reasons of low transition of sulphur from saccharin to the deposited nickel layer. (author)
