Preparation of thin silver foils for an ion spectrometer

Creators

  • 1. Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (USSR)

Description

An empirical relationship is established between the minimum thickness (0.01-0.4 mg/cm2) and the maximum dimension of a free silver foil produced by thermal evaporation in a high vacuum and installed in a mount with a square opening. This technology has been used to build a spectrometer with silver foils for measurement of the energy spectrum of the beam of a proton accelerator
