Description
Photoluminescence characteristics of YVO4:Eu3+ codoped with large divalent ions such as the Sr2+, Ba2+ or Pb2+ ion are studied. The phosphors were prepared both by a solid state reaction method and in a sulfurizing flux. The large divalent ions were not excessively incorporated into the lattice in preparation by solid state reaction to cause changes in lattice parameters of YVO4 and in the luminescence characteristics of YVO4:Eu3+. The intensity of charge transfer absorption at ca. 316 nm and its red emission have greatly increased by codoping the Sr2+, Ba2+ or Pb2+ ion into the YVO4 lattice with little wavelength shift by preparing them in the sulfurizing flux
