Intrinsic ADM formalism for Lagrangian field theories in fibered manifolds

  • 1. Universita di Torino, Torino

Description

An intrinsic approach to the ADM formalism for field theories is presented. The approach is based on the formal theory of calculus of variations in fibered manifolds and on the existence of global Poincare-Cartan forms associated to an arbitrary Lagrangian density. When the Lagrangian density is generally covariant, the approach presented here coincides with the the one we already presented. When working with adapted fibered coordinates, it coincides with the standard local ADM formulation
