Industrial emissions. It is necessary to turn over a new leaf
Description
The growing difficulties faced in Italy by a system of controlling air pollution caused by industrial discharges call for an urgent revision of the regulations governing this sector. It is necessary to change the approach from a painstaking control of the single sources of pollution to an overall evaluation of the levels of pollution and the standards in term of air quality, for example on the basis of the models adopted in the USA. A special role must be reserved for the Environmental Protection Agencies, and special attention paid to companies assuming an environmental commitment

L'articolo discute la politica delle emissioni inquinanti sottolineando la necessita' di effettuare controlli no solamente sulle singole fonti, ma accedere a una valutazione globale dei livelli di inquinamento e degli standard di qualita' dell'aria, basandosi su strumenti modellistici e sistemi di monitoraggio dell'esperienza americana.
