Crystal structure of the LaΛ2FeΛ14C compound

Description

X-ray diffraction investigation of La2Fe14C monocrystals (diffractometer, MoKsub(α), ω-method, 2THETAsub(max)=70 deg, 274 reflections, R=0.072) is carried out. The lattice parameters are: a=0.8819(2), c=1.2142(6) nm, V=0.9443 nm3, sp.gr. P42/mnm. La2Fe14C compound structure belongs to the new type of structures, whch is a derivative from Th6Mn23 structural type. Coordination polyhedrons of lanthanum atoms are 19- and 18 vertex ones [La1La3Fe16] and [La2La2Fe16], having one tetragonal and 32 trigonal faces, respectively. Interatomic La-La distances constitute 0.3551-0.3752(4) nm, and La-Fe distances - 0.305(1)-0.3395(3) nm
