Dynamic characteristics of a fast-cycling synchrotron - JHEP accelerator injector

Description

A fast-cycling booster synchrotron for maximum proton energy of 1.5 GeV was constructed in IHEP for essential increase of intensity of the operating 70 GeV accelerator. The value of 5x1013 prot/cycle is adopted as the limiting intensity, that is equivalent to pulse intensity of the booster equal to 1.7x1012 prot/pulse. The circumference of the main ring is filled during 1.5 s as a result of 30-fold beam injection from the booster. Since 1985 the booster complex is regularly used as a new injector of the IHEP accelerator at proton energy at the output of the booster equal to 1.3-1.35 GeV. Basic results of investigation and tuning of dynamic performances of the fast-cycling synchrotron-injector are presented. Maximum intensity of a beam accelerated in the booster is brought to 0.8x1012 prot./pulse as a result of the conducted investigations and tuning operating modes of the equipment and the complex on the whole
