Kinetic toughness of being rendered amorphous metallic melts

Description
A study was made on temperature dependence of kinematic toughness of metallic melts used for production of alloys in metastable and amorphous states. Intensive anomaly manifestation and their variety on toughness polyterms was noted. Melts being rendered amorphous demonstrate also the occurrence of local extremums both on heating and cooling curves which don't coincide with respect to temperature. Sufficiently higher absolute values of toughness of all studied melts were measured. The considerable differene in temperature toughnss factors σν/σT was noted. For common metallic melts σν/σT equals 2x10-9 m2/(s x k), for melts being rendered amorphous σν/σT=10-8 m2/(s x k), that is higher by one order. It was concluded that systematic and validated data explaining the reasons of anomaly occurrence on toughness polyterms of being rendered amorphous melts are lacking. Conducted investigations enable to conclude that being rendered amorphous melts represent a particular group of metallic liquids with toughness properties more close to oxide melts as compared to metallic ones
